The Panel received a Request for Inspection sent by 26 people from Bangladesh on December 8, 2016. The Request for Inspection is related to the World Bank-financed Modern Food Storage Facilities Project (P120583). The Requesters claim they are suffering harm as a result of the World Bank’s failures or omissions in applying its policies and procedures during the planning and implementation of the Project. The Panel issued a Notice of Receipt of the Request on its website on January 6, 2017.
The Panel has decided not to register this Request for Inspection after conducting the required due diligence. The Panel’s decision is based on the confirmed safe status of the PPCP silo prototype, the acceptability of PPCP worldwide as safe technology, and the fact that such silos are successfully in use in Bangladesh.
