Inspection Panel delivers Investigation Report

Hydropower Project (PRG No. B 003-UG)

Washington, May 24, 2002-- On October 26, 2001, the Board of Executive Directors authorized the Inspection Panel to conduct an investigation on the matters alleged in a Request for Inspection related to the above-referenced Projects.

Pursuant to paragraph 22 of the IDA Resolution 93-6 (the "Resolution") establishing the Inspection Panel, and paragraph 53 of the Panel's Operating Procedures, on May 23, 2002, the Inspection Panel submitted its Investigation Report to the Board of Executive Directors and the President of the International Development Association (IDA).

According to paragraph 23 of the Resolution, "within six weeks from receiving the Panel's findings, Management will submit to the Executive Directors for their consideration a report indicating its recommendations in response to such findings."

After the Board receives the Management's Report, the Board will then meet to consider both Reports. The Bank shall make both reports publicly available shortly after their consideration by the Executive Directors.
