Dion Lorenz Lipa Romano

Dion Romano has over 10 years of combined work experience in program management, research, and law. Before joining the Inspection Panel, he began his career at INCITEGov, a policy think tank focusing on governance, public fiscal, and security sector reforms in the Philippines. Dion later joined the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Government of Philippines, initially serving as a Program Officer for its flagship poverty alleviation program. After passing the 2017 Philippine Bar examinations, he transitioned to the OVP's legal team. 

Following his tenure at the OVP, Dion managed governance and research projects at the Ateneo School of Government, where he supported the newly established Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. As Program Manager, he oversaw grants totaling more than 25 million pesos for research and executive education programs funded by international agencies. Dion also worked as a lawyer at the Legal Rights and Natural Resources Center, where he represented indigenous peoples and advocated for environmental and indigenous rights campaigns.

In 2022, Dion moved to the United States to pursue graduate studies, earning a master’s degree in Global Human Development from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. At Georgetown, he served as a social justice representative, was selected as the Class Speaker at graduation, and received the 2024 Lancaster Service Award. During his studies, he interned with Accountability Counsel in Thailand and Vietnam. In the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024, he worked on his capstone project on how Inspection Panel process leads to remedy to project affected communities.
